Understanding the Properties of Matter

Cover2small

Understanding the Properties of Matter is a revolutionary textbook for undergraduate Physics courses.

It is revolutionary because of its concern with the measurements of the properties of matter, not just with theories. As such it forms a valuable data source in itself.

It is also revolutionary because – as April 2021 – it has become free! You can download the book by chapters from the various sections shown in the menu.

  1. I would like to discuss using your book as the basis of my condensed matter course. My message to your email address failed to deliver, so I’m reaching out to you via your blog.

If you are still offering resources, such as problem solutions and enlarged figures and tables for the second edition, please let me know.

I look forward to conversing with you.

    • James Lee,

I apologise for the state of support of the book. I’ll sort something this weekend.

The story of ‘why’ this is so is long and tedious. But first let apply a fix.

      Best wishes

    • Hi. Resources? There are downloadable figures and spreadsheets on the web site. And as the site mentions, the entire book is now free as a downloadable pdf.

And of course, you can always ask me questions!

      Best wishes
